Rome, (Italy) – Italy’s GDP will finally grow again in 2014, but the 0.7 percent rise forecast by the Italian National Institute of Statistics, ISTAT, will not be enough for any turnaround in the labour market. The jobless rate is set to rise to 12.4 percent from 12.1 percent this year. The economy is also forecast to contract by 1.8 percent this year.
Household consumption will drop by 2.4 percent in 2013 before a small rise of 0.2 percent next year, „despite the continuing difficulties in the labour market and the weakness of nominal incomes”. (AGI)
