Torreon – Prisoners staged a mass breakout via tunnel, or maybe the main gate. One hundred and thirty two prisoners escaped from prison in Piedras Negras, near the Texan city of Eagle Pass. An almost unprecedented mass breakout came to light last night, explained the attorney general Homero Ramos Gloria.
The idea is that the 132 passed through a tunnel 2.90 metres deep, 1.20 metres wide and seven metres long. The escapees then cut a fence and were free. Fragments of the great escape were found at the scene, a Blackberry, a sim card, a wire, and a rope. However, a number of experts disagree with the tunnel theory because it is very narrow and think that the prisoners may have left by the main gate.
Now Mexican and US authorities have begun their hunt. The government has also issued a reward of 200,000 thousand pesos, about 12,000 euro, to anyone giving information. However, Piedras Negras is not the first great escape from prison. In 2010, 141 prisoners broke out of prison in Nuevo Laredo, in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas. (AGI) .
